About UA Local 7

UA Local 7, Plumbers and Steamfitters was chartered in 1894.  For over 110 years we've been protecting the health of our nation through our Plumbing, Pipefitting and HVAC Service work.

Our contractors employ the members of local 7 in many construction Industries. We work in the Heavy Industrial, Commercial and Residential Sectors. We also specialize in HVAC Service throughout the Capital Region, where heating & cooling systems are vital to the economy during our warm summers and cold winters.

Our members are required to graduate from the UA Internationals certified and accredited Joint Apprenticeship Training Program which produces the best Journeymen in the industry. This 5-year apprenticeship program which requires an apprentice to have over 9,000 hours of on-the-job training as well as over 1,800 hours of classroom education from certified instructors means that you have the most qualified workforce at your disposal.

Our workforce takes pride in partnering with our signatory contractors to deliver sophisticated piping systems to the end user which are so important to the infrastructure of our community.

We do it right the first time, so when Tech Valley hits the Capital Region to build new or expand existing facilities, they can count on the members of Local 7.  The complicated gas installations are vital pieces to tool hook-ups at these plants.  Along with equally important commodities such as steam systems, potable water systems, and comfort piping systems. These systems are necessary to support the facilities.

There are numerous examples of our participation in developing our communities. We have experience and are currently working in many areas such as:

  • Airports, both expansion and renovation
  • Bio Research Labs
  • Chemical Processing Plants
  • Dams
  • Educational Institutions, both Public and Private
  • Food and Beverage Processing Facilities
  • Hotels
  • Military Installations
  • Paper Mills
  • Power Plants
  • Processing Facilities
  • Residential Homes and Developments
  • Semiconductor Plants
  • Strip Malls
  • Sports Facilities and Arenas
  • Water and Waste Treatment Facilities

Local 7 is extremely proud to be a productive member of the Capital District business community. Since it's inception, we've taken an active role and will continue to play an ever bigger role as Albany continues to thrive as our capital of our great state of New York!
